A long-standing supporter of the Scottish National Party in Moray has been presented with Honorary Lifetime Membership of the party.
Margo Howe was presented with her membership card and a small token from the party by Moray MSP Richard Lochhead.
Margo is a stalwart of her community and active in many groups in the Fochabers area.
She is the Convener of the Fochabers SNP Branch and a former member of Grampian Regional Council and the Moray Council representing the Fochabers Lhanbryde ward.
She was also Richard Lochhead’s election agent when he was first elected as MSP for Moray in 2006.
In a video message, SNP Leader Nicola Sturgeon said:
“Congratulations to Margo on her Lifetime Membership of the SNP.
“I can’t think of anyone who more deserves this accolade.
“She has given decades of service to the party and to the cause of independence.
I am delighted to see Margo honoured in this way.”
Commenting Richard Lochhead MSP said:
“I am delighted Moray SNP has awarded Margo lifetime membership of the SNP.
“This is a fantastic recognition of her extraordinary commitment and loyalty to the SNP and Scotland’s cause.
“It is fitting because Margo has spent much of her lifetime helping the SNP get where we are today.
“Margo helped the SNP break nationally by helping us win in Moray, and she helped keep that flame burning during the more difficult years as well as the good ones.
“Margo is always someone we can rely on and she is a lynchpin in our campaign teams, and I have always valued her wise counsel.”
Margo Howe said:
“Imagine my shock and surprise to find I was presented with the gift of an Honorary Life Membership of the SNP courtesy of the Fochabers branch and the Moray SNP Constituency Association.
“Words can’t express how proud and yet humble I feel to be given such a token of respect and esteem from my fellow SNP members.
“I want to thank all the members for the gifts, the flowers and for my very special Honorary Lifetime membership card of the SNP.”
