Moray Council Agrees Long-Term Expansion Plan for Mosstodloch

Feedback from a 12-week public consultation on the draft plan has been used to develop the final masterplan, setting out the development of the village over the next 20 years.

The vision is for Mosstodloch to be a place with a choice of good homes, opportunities to work locally, and be well connected with its environment.

Proposals include a new residential housing site with up to 150 houses; a strengthened village centre near the Ian Baxter Picnic Area; enhancement of the path networks to create green loops around the village; and a spine road from Cowfords Roundabout to Garmouth Road.

This will provide an alternative route for HGVs and traffic and could unlock industrial and renewable energy opportunities.

The findings from the consultation highlighted key concerns including the impact an increasing population will have on existing schools and healthcare infrastructure.

However, the current school rolls of both Mosstodloch and Milnes Primary School are below the school capacity, meaning in future they can meet the demand of an increasing population.

Additionally, NHS Grampian have been consulted on the masterplan and the impacts on the GP practice are acknowledged and will be addressed.

Moray Council’s Acting Head of Economic Growth and Development, Beverly Smith, said:

“It’s been a positive experience to consult the community and incorporate their aspirations for Mosstodloch within the masterplan.

“This truly is a community-led development and a fantastic opportunity for collaboration with locals.

“We all look forward to seeing the progress as work begins to implement the vision.”
