A motion by Highlands and Islands MSP Emma Roddick, welcoming the opening of the Inverness Creative Academy, has been signed by more than a dozen MSPs.

The Inverness Creative Academy provides a stimulating working environment for artists, creative businesses, and art organisations that is affordable and accessible.

This beautiful building, which has recently opened its doors to the public, offers guests the opportunity to experience Inverness Creative Academy’s debut exhibition while enjoying some coffee and cake at Café de Paulo, located inside of the building.

This public opening follows the four-year, £6-million transformation of the notable Midmills Buildings on the former Inverness Royal Academy site.

Commenting, Roddick said:

“It is incredible to see what Wasps have done with such a beautiful and well-loved building.

“I visited recently and it was joy to hear from artists about how valuable the space has been in fostering a community of creatives.

“I loved seeing art in such a wide range of styles on display and in progress all under one roof.

“People come from all over the world to enjoy the culture of the Highlands, but, too often, creatives feel they have to move away to be successful in their work.

“Now, there’s a Highland hub for them to develop in – and I am delighted to see the support of my fellow MSPs for this beautiful and important place.”
