Twenty new homes in Dingwall are ready to welcome tenants, nestled in the scenic setting of Tulloch Square/Castle – Green Lady Court, just on the edge of town.

The Highland Council has now taken ownership of these much-needed properties from contractor Capstone, comprising a mix of housing options to suit local families and individuals alike.

This new development includes four semi-detached villas with three bedrooms, four cottage flats with two bedrooms, and twelve communal flats, also with two bedrooms – all of which will be offered for social rent.

Cllr Graham MacKenzie, Dingwall and Seaforth Area Chair and Local Ward Member, expressed his enthusiasm, calling the location “stunning” and highlighting its proximity to Dingwall Primary and Dingwall Academy, just a short walk away.

Cllr Glynis Campbell Sinclair, Chair of the Council Housing and Property Committee, reinforced the importance of these new homes in addressing local housing needs, acknowledging the widespread demand for affordable housing across the Highlands and Scotland as a whole.

She added that The Highland Council is dedicated to tackling this housing challenge by expanding its social housing stock through collaborations with partners like Capstone, building energy-efficient homes that support sustainable living for families and individuals.

Capstone’s Managing Director, Rhona Donnelly, shared the company’s pride in completing this project, noting it’s the first time they have developed housing for The Highland Council and expressing optimism for future collaborations in delivering affordable homes to Highland communities.

The project received significant support from the Scottish Government, with funding of £2.4 million contributing to the realisation of these vital new homes.

This development is a small yet impactful step towards addressing the Highland Council’s affordable housing goals, with these new properties standing as a testament to local commitment and community partnerships.

The arrival of these homes marks progress in providing high-quality, affordable housing options in Dingwall, a much-welcomed addition to the growing community.
