Oban Camanachd lifted the MKM Oban Macaulay Cup with a dramatic 2–1 victory over Kingussie on Saturday 22nd August as another weekend of shinty delivered silverware and goals across Scotland.
Ross Campbell gave Oban Camanachd the lead in the 17th minute before MacLeod Dawson brought Kingussie level in the 77th minute.
With the contest finely balanced, Ross MacMillan struck in the 98th minute to secure the trophy for Oban Camanachd and provide the biggest moment of the weekend.
Premiership action saw Newtonmore produce an emphatic 5–0 victory over Kyles Athletic.
Matthew Sloss scored twice, with Brodie MacBean and James Coyle also finding the net alongside an Ian McFarlane own goal.
Caberfeidh secured an impressive 3–2 victory away at Skye after establishing a three goal lead through Blair Morrison and Gavin McLaughlan.
Dan MacDonald scored twice as Skye fought back in the second half, but Caberfeidh held on to take the points.
Col Glen and Fort William shared the points following a 1–1 draw, with Greg Kelly putting Fort William ahead before Andrew MacVicar levelled for Col Glen.
In the National Division, Kilmallie recorded a convincing 3–0 victory over Beauly as Shane O’Rua scored twice following Martin Stewart’s opening goal.
Bute and Glasgow Mid Argyll shared four goals in a 2–2 draw, with Calum Morrison striking in the 86th minute for Glasgow Mid Argyll.
North Division 1 produced one of the games of the weekend as Newtonmore edged Kinlochshiel 5–4 in a nine goal thriller.
Kinlochshiel led 3–1 after 35 minutes, but Newtonmore fought back through Xander Ross and James Coyle before Glen MacKintosh struck in the 86th minute.
Inverness enjoyed a convincing 3–0 victory over Skye, with Jack Leslie scoring all three goals, while the Caberfeidh and Strathglass fixture was postponed because of an unplayable field.
North Division 2 produced some of the biggest scorelines of the weekend.
Kilmallie swept aside Strathglass 11–1, with Ben MacKinnon and Liam Cameron both scoring hat tricks, while Liam MacDonald and Iain MacIntyre each scored twice.
Aberdeen University defeated Inverness 2–0, Beauly recorded a 3–0 victory over Boleskine, Lewis edged Lochcarron 3–2 and Lovat defeated Lochaber by the same scoreline.
South Division 2 delivered an even bigger result as Kilmory recorded a remarkable 12–0 victory over Stirling.
Niall Shaw scored four, Ruairidh Buchanan grabbed a hat trick and Kian Crawford scored twice as Kilmory produced a dominant performance.
Strachur Dunoon completed the weekend’s results with a 3–1 victory over Bute as Martyn Hall scored all three goals.
With Oban Camanachd celebrating Macaulay Cup success and league campaigns continuing to produce goals throughout the divisions, another busy weekend of shinty delivered plenty to remember.
