Drivers in Inverness are being advised to plan ahead as overnight resurfacing works are set to close two key roundabouts on the A82 Longman Road for five nights from the end of August.

BEAR Scotland, acting on behalf of Transport Scotland, will carry out resurfacing and road marking improvements at Rose Street Roundabout and Harbour Street Roundabout between Sunday 30 August and the morning of Friday 4 September.

The works will take place overnight from 8pm until 6am each night, with the A82 reopening outside working hours.

A full road closure will be in place during the works to allow the improvements to be carried out safely.

A signed diversion for trunk road traffic will operate from Shore Street Roundabout to Longman Roundabout via Academy Street, Milburn Road and the A9, adding around 1.4 miles and approximately five minutes to affected journeys.

Drivers heading to the Inverness Retail Park or the bus station will also see temporary changes during the works.

Northbound traffic will be directed via Academy Street and Strothers Lane, while southbound traffic will remain unaffected.

Vehicles leaving the retail park and bus station will be directed via Margaret Street.

Access for emergency services and scheduled bus services will be maintained throughout the project.

BEAR Scotland said it has consulted with relevant stakeholders in advance of the work to ensure they are aware of the planned traffic management arrangements.

“The works on the A82 at Rose Street Roundabout and Harbour Road Roundabout will address existing defects in the road surface and refresh road markings, improving the overall condition and safety of this key route for road users.

“Our teams will complete the works as efficiently as possible, with safety remaining our highest priority.

“We thank the local community and road users for their patience and understanding while these essential improvements are carried out.”

Motorists travelling through Inverness overnight during the works are being encouraged to allow extra time for their journeys and follow the signed diversion routes.
