One of cycling’s most historic names is preparing for a return as Peugeot Cycles gets ready to unveil a new generation of bicycles at this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The relaunch will take place during the world famous endurance racing event, which runs from 10 to 14 June, marking a new chapter for a brand whose cycling heritage stretches back to 1886.
For generations, Peugeot bicycles were a familiar sight on roads, race circuits and city streets across Europe, helping establish the company as one of the most recognisable names in cycling.
Now the French manufacturer is preparing to bring the brand back to market with a completely new range designed for modern riders.
The collection will include both electric and traditional bicycles covering road cycling, gravel riding, mountain biking, urban commuting and long distance touring.
Peugeot says the new range has been developed around the values that have long defined the brand, combining French design, riding enjoyment and durability.
The project is being led by the Rebirth Group, a French mobility company specialising in the revival of historic brands.
Production will take place at Romilly sur Seine, a site closely linked to Peugeot’s cycling heritage and one that played an important role in the brand’s manufacturing history.
Series production is expected to begin in October 2026.
Sales are planned to start towards the end of this year and continue into early 2027 depending on the model.
The new bicycles will be equipped with Michelin tyres, bringing together two iconic French names with long histories in transport, engineering and innovation.
Peugeot Chief Executive Officer Alain Favey said:
“With the return of Peugeot Cycles, the Rebirth team is reviving a part of our shared history.
“For more than 215 years, Peugeot has supported everyday mobility as well as the greatest sporting adventures.
“I am delighted that this new range is being unveiled at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, a place where passion and performance are expressed.”
Peugeot Brand Manager Vincent Ancelin said:
“Peugeot Cycles is a brand deeply rooted in the hearts and minds of the French: who has never ridden a Peugeot bike?
“A pioneering brand from the very beginning, it has shone worldwide for nearly a century and a half.
“So what better place than France’s most famous circuit, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, to remind everyone that innovation, sport, and competition have always been part of the brand’s DNA?”
Rebirth Group Chief Executive Officer Grégory Trebaol added:
“In this original ambition to revive iconic French mobility brands, the Rebirth Group is extremely proud of this new range and of bringing Peugeot Cycles production back to its historic Romilly-sur-Seine plant.”
For cycling enthusiasts, the return of Peugeot Cycles represents the revival of a famous name that helped shape cycling culture for well over a century and now aims to compete in an increasingly diverse bicycle market.
