Police Stop Drivers as Search for Dennis Sinsheimer Reaches One Week

Police searching for missing man Dennis Sinsheimer are stopping drivers on the A830 west of Fort William today as the search reaches one week since he was last seen.

The 33 year old left accommodation off the B8004 at Banavie at 8.33am on Tuesday 29 September before walking west towards the A830.

Police enquiries established that Dennis was captured on CCTV at Annat Point Industrial Estate at 10.20am that morning, with officers believing he then continued walking west along the pavement beside the A830.

Extensive searches have been carried out during the past week, with officers concentrating on the area around the A830 and nearby woodland while working alongside mountain rescue and coastguard teams.

Police are now stopping vehicles on the A830 and asking drivers to think back over the past seven days in case they saw Dennis or have dash cam footage which could help establish where he went.

Inspector Craig Johnstone said:

“It has been seven days since Dennis was last seen and as time passes, we are growing increasingly concerned for his welfare.

“We are asking members of the public to think back, have you been driving in this area within the past week and possibly noticed a man matching Dennis’ description?

“We are appealing for your assistance and unformed patrols are looking to speak to anyone who can assist and help trace Dennis.”

Dennis is 5ft 11ins tall, of slim build, with dark coloured hair and a beard.

When he was last seen he was wearing a grey jacket, grey jeans, a blue tie dye style T shirt and white Nike trainers.

The latest roadside appeal comes as police continue trying to piece together Dennis’s movements after the CCTV sighting at Annat Point, which remains the last confirmed sighting disclosed by officers.

Anyone who travelled along the A830 or through the surrounding area during the past week is being asked to consider whether they noticed someone matching his description, even if it did not appear significant at the time.

Drivers are also being urged to check any dash cam recordings they may still have from the area, with footage potentially providing information that could help the search.

Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1678 of 29 September 2026.
