Projects in Skye and Raasay Awarded Highland Coastal Communities Fund

Three successful projects have been awarded £125,082.60 Highland Coastal Communities Funding by the Skye and Raasay Area Committee.

Within an overall allocation to Highland of £3,201,134, the Skye Area Committee has been awarded £493,223.34 of Crown Estates revenues for distribution within the Skye and Raasay Area.

Funding will be distributed as the Highland Coastal Communities Fund –Skye (HCCF).

The following applications were awarded:

Camuscross & Duisdale – Motorhome Service Point – £34,332.60

The Highland Council – Bagging Mower for Skye – £13,750

The Highland Council – Old Man of Storr Future Development – £77,000

Skye and Raasay Area Committee Chair, Cllr John Gordon said:

“The three projects awarded today will bring positive results to our communities.

“We look forward to further projects applying for HCCF and will be bringing those to future committee meetings for consideration.”

The Highland Coastal Communities Fund is designed to support economic regeneration and sustainable development around coastal areas in Highland.

The fund is derived from revenue generated by Scottish Government Crown Estate marine assets.

Projects are expected to prioritise economic recovery, community resilience, mitigate the impact of climate change or address the challenges of rural depopulation.

The successful projects will also demonstrate sustainability or viability, value for money, additionality, local support/benefit to their community and evidence the positive impacts for their coastal community/economy.
