Police Scotland has renewed an appeal for information to trace Stuart Campbell, 33, who has been reported missing in Sutherland.

Mr Campbell, who is from Dornoch was reported missing on Monday, 27 July by his family.

His car – a red Suzuki Swift, registration number SY08 OFA – was found at a car park most regularly used by walkers accessing Ben Loyal to the south of Tongue.

Extensive searches have been ongoing in the area involving the Assynt and RAF mountain rescue teams, SARDA and the HM Coastguard helicopter, so far without success.

Mr Campbell is believed to have travelled to the area on Saturday, 25 July and it is believed he intended to go hill walking, although it is not known what route he intended to take.

Officers are urging any walkers in the area to remain vigilant and remain keen to speak to anyone who was in the area during the weekend of 25-26 July in case they may have seen anything which could be of use.

Inspector Kevin Macleod said:

“It is extremely concerning for Stuart to have been out of contact with family and friends for this long.

“It is very important that any walkers who were on Ben Loyal or in the surrounding area last weekend to think back and let us know if they may have seen Stuart.

“Even if your information seems small or insignificant it may be helpful to our search.

“I would also urge workers in the area this weekend to remain vigilant and report anything which could be of note.”

Stuart is described as being 5ft 6in tall and of slim build with brown hair.

He is believed to have been wearing a hooded green Berghaus jacket with a red zip and he is likely to have been carrying a black North Face branded rucksack.

Anyone with information about Stuart’s whereabouts can contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 2773 of 27 July.
