The SNP has welcomed new polling by YouGov today, which shows the overwhelming majority of Scots back the Scottish Government’s clear ‘stay at home’ message.

The survey, from fieldwork yesterday (Sunday 10th May), suggests 72% of people in Scotland believe only the “Stay home, Protect the NHS, Save lives” message makes it clear what they are supposed to do.

This follows separate polling from YouGov on 1st May, which found an overwhelming majority of Scots (74%) believe the SNP government is handling the coronavirus pandemic well – and 71% have confidence in First Minister Nicola Sturgeon making the right decisions.

Commenting, SNP Shadow Health Secretary Dr Philippa Whitford MP said:

“This poll shows the overwhelming majority of people in Scotland support the SNP Scottish Government’s clear and consistent ‘stay at home’ message.

“During this global pandemic it is vital that governments provide strong and clear public health messages that are easy to understand and implement.

“The message in Scotland couldn’t be clearer – stay at home to protect the NHS and save lives.

“By following this advice, we are preventing an increased risk of infection and saving lives.

“Together we are making progress.

“We must follow the rules to ensure it continues.”
