Shinty Delivers Goals and Dominant Wins Across The Highlands

Shinty action continued across Scotland on Saturday 18th April 2026, with cup ties and league fixtures combining to deliver goals, red cards and several dominant performances across the Highlands.

With more matches played and conditions improving, the weekend provided a clearer picture of early season form, with a number of sides beginning to separate themselves.

In the Strathdearn Cup, Newtonmore produced a powerful display to defeat Beauly 8–2, with James Coyle hitting five goals and Jacob Bain adding a hat trick in a commanding performance, while Beauly’s Leo Bain was sent off.

Skye also progressed with a 4–2 win over Lovat, while Caberfeidh secured a 4–1 victory against Inverness, with Ali Taylor scoring a hat trick.

Kingussie delivered another strong statement with a 6–1 win over Glenurquhart, with goals spread across the side in a controlled performance.

In the Bullough Cup, Aberdour took a 5–2 win over Tayforth, while Lochside Rovers impressed with a 6–1 victory against Uddingston.

In the Mowi Premiership, Kingussie secured a convincing 5–1 win over Fort William, while Newtonmore delivered the standout result of the weekend with an emphatic 8–1 victory over Col Glen.

Oban Camanachd recorded a strong 3–1 win over Lochaber, while Caberfeidh and Kinlochshiel shared the points in a goalless draw.

In the National Division, Glenurquhart edged a 2–1 win over Glasgow Mid Argyll, while Beauly and Kilmallie played out a 3–2 contest, with Beauly coming out on top.

Lovat secured a narrow 3–2 win over Inveraray in another competitive fixture.

North Division 1 saw a closely fought 2–2 draw between Strathglass and Glengarry, while several fixtures across other divisions were again affected by unplayable pitches.

In the women’s game, there were high scoring performances, with Glengarry defeating Strathglass 5–3 and Kilmallie delivering a dominant 11–0 win over Stirling.

With goals flowing across both cup and league competitions, the season is now beginning to show real shape, with momentum building across the Highlands.
