Shinty Delivers Goals, Cup Drama and Big Wins Across The Highlands

Shinty action continued across Scotland on Saturday 25th April 2026, with cup quarter finals, league fixtures and high scoring performances delivering one of the most competitive weekends of the season so far.

With knockout football now in full flow, several sides made strong statements as places in the latter stages were secured.

In the W M Donald MacTavish Cup quarter finals, Kingussie saw off Skye 3–1, while Newtonmore continued their impressive form with a 3–1 win over Glenurquhart.

Lovat edged Beauly 1–0 in a tight contest, and Caberfeidh secured a hard fought 2–1 victory over Fort William to complete the semi final line up.

In the Glasgow Celtic Society Challenge Cup, there were goals in abundance, with Col Glen hitting five in a 5–2 win over Bute, while Inveraray delivered one of the standout attacking performances of the weekend with a 6–3 victory against Kyles Athletic.

Oban Camanachd progressed via walkover against Oban Celtic.

In the Premiership, Oban Camanachd recorded a strong 3–0 win over Kinlochshiel, with Daniel MacVicar scoring twice in a composed performance.

The National Division saw Kilmallie take a convincing 4–0 win over Glasgow Mid Argyll, showing real attacking sharpness.

North Division 1 delivered solid performances across the board, with Inverness hitting four without reply against Glenurquhart, while Newtonmore secured a controlled 3–0 win over Strathglass.

Glengarry edged Skye 2–1 in a tighter contest.

In South Division 1, Ardnamurchan impressed with a 5–1 win over Glasgow Mid Argyll, while Aberdour and Inveraray shared the points in a 1–1 draw.

North Division 2 saw Beauly take a 3–1 win over Inverness, while Strathglass secured a 2–0 victory against Boleskine and Lovat and Lewis played out a 1–1 draw.

In South Division 2, Stirling recorded a 3–1 win over Aberdour to round off the weekend’s senior league action.

Across the competitions, goals, tight margins and knockout pressure combined to deliver a weekend that is starting to define the direction of the season.
