Shinty Delivers Goals, Cup Drama and Dominant Wins Across The Highlands

Shinty action continued across Scotland on Saturday 6th June 2026, with cup ties, league fixtures and youth competitions producing goals, extra time drama and several eye catching scorelines across the Highlands.

The Ferguson Transport & Shipping Balliemore Cup provided some of the most dramatic moments of the weekend.

Beauly booked their place in the next round with a 3–0 victory over Inverness after extra time, while Kilmallie and Glenurquhart produced one of the games of the season, drawing 4–4 before Kilmallie edged the penalty shootout 4–3.

Lovat also progressed after Oban Celtic were unable to field a team.

In the Strathdearn Cup, Kingussie delivered a commanding 7–0 victory over Lochcarron, with Rory Munro scoring twice as the Badenoch side continued their strong season.

The Mowi Premiership produced another statement performance from Kingussie, who swept aside Oban Camanachd 7–0 to maintain their momentum at the top end of the division.

Kinlochshiel secured a dramatic late 2–1 victory away at Skye, while Newtonmore continued their strong run with a 2–1 win at Fort William.

Col Glen recorded an impressive 4–2 victory against Lochaber, while Caberfeidh edged Kyles Athletic 2–1 thanks to a late winner from Cameron Grant.

In the National Division, Glasgow Mid Argyll recorded a convincing 4–0 victory over Bute, while North Division 1 saw Glengarry continue their strong form with a 4–1 win over Caberfeidh.

Glenurquhart defeated Fort William 5–1 and Skye secured a comfortable 3–0 victory over Strathglass.

South Division 1 delivered goals in abundance, with Ardnamurchan edging Ballachulish 4–3 in an entertaining encounter, while Aberdour claimed a dominant 6–1 victory away at Glasgow Mid Argyll.

The biggest senior scoreline of the weekend came from Lochside Rovers, who hit twelve goals in a 12–1 victory over Kyles Athletic.

North Division 2 also produced a one sided contest as Inverness swept aside Boleskine 11–0, while Lewis edged Beauly 3–2 and Lovat shared a goalless draw with Aberdeen University.

In South Division 2, Kilmory recorded a commanding 9–0 win away at Aberdour, while Bute defeated Strachur Dunoon 6–2 and Uddingston secured a 6–1 victory over Tayforth.

Women’s shinty again produced plenty of goals, including a remarkable 19–1 victory for Tayforth over Uddingston, while youth competitions saw Skye and Newtonmore book their places in the MacTavish Juvenile Cup Final.

Across every level of the game, the goals continue to flow as the shinty season moves into one of its busiest periods.
