Shinty Delivers Goals, Cup Drama and Penalty Shootout Tension Across The Highlands

Shinty action continued across Scotland on Saturday 30th May 2026, with the Camanachd Cup, Strathdearn Cup and Bullough Cup producing goals, extra time drama and penalty shootouts across the Highlands.

The weekend’s biggest story came in the Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup, where several sides booked their place in the next round with impressive performances.

Newtonmore swept aside Kyles Athletic 5–0, while Oban Camanachd secured a convincing 3–1 victory away at Beauly.

Kinlochshiel also progressed with a 4–2 win over Glasgow Mid Argyll, while Fort William edged a dramatic 3–2 victory over Lovat thanks to a late Hamish Shaw goal.

The closest contest of the round came at Spean Bridge, where Lochaber and Glenurquhart battled to a 3–3 draw before Glenurquhart held their nerve to win the penalty shootout 4–2.

Kingussie continued their impressive form with a 2–1 victory over Col Glen, while Skye secured a narrow 1–0 win away at Inveraray through a late Ross Gordon strike.

In the Strathdearn Cup, Newtonmore produced another dominant display, defeating Kinlochshiel 7–1 with James Coyle, Jacob Bain and Xander Ross all scoring twice.

Skye edged past Caberfeidh after extra time in a dramatic 3–2 victory, while Fort William recorded a commanding 5–0 win away at Lewis.

The Bullough Cup also delivered goals in abundance, with Kilmory overcoming Strachur Dunoon 4–2 and Bute securing a convincing 5–0 win away at Aberdour.

League action was more limited but still produced plenty of talking points.

In North Division 1, Glengarry defeated Inverness 4–2, while Glenurquhart continued their strong run with a 2–1 victory over Strathglass.

In North Division 2, Kilmallie secured a hard fought 2–1 win away at Aberdeen University, while Lovat defeated Boleskine 3–1.

South Division 2 saw Tayforth and Stirling share six goals in an entertaining 3–3 draw.

Youth shinty again produced several eye catching performances, with Newtonmore defeating Kingussie 6–0 in the National Under 17 League, Inverness hitting twelve against Strathglass in the Under 17 Development League, and Kinlochshiel Lochcarron defeating Skye 8–1 at Under 14 level.

Across every level of the game, the goals continue to flow as teams push towards the busiest period of the season.
