Shinty Delivers Goals, Cup Drama and Youth Success Across The Highlands

Shinty action continued across Scotland on Saturday 9th May 2026, with cup ties, league fixtures and youth competitions delivering another packed weekend of goals and dominant performances across the Highlands.

The weekend also included a midweek fixture in Mowi North Division 2, where Kilmallie delivered a ruthless 8–0 victory over Inverness, with Ben MacKinnon scoring four times in a commanding display.

In the Macaulay Cup, Fort William secured an impressive 2–0 win away at Caberfeidh, while Newtonmore continued their strong form with a composed 2–0 victory over Kinlochshiel.

Kingussie produced another attacking masterclass in a 6–2 win over Lochaber, while Oban Camanachd defeated Inveraray 3–1 and Bute secured a strong 3–1 victory against Col Glen.

Kyles Athletic also progressed with a 5–2 win over Glasgow Mid Argyll in one of the most entertaining ties of the round.

In the Sutherland Cup, Newtonmore again impressed with a dominant 5–0 victory over Caberfeidh, while Kinlochshiel hit seven in a convincing 7–2 win away at Lovat.

Lochside Rovers edged a lively 5–3 encounter against Lochaber, and Fort William secured a 3–1 win over Inveraray.

Kyles Athletic completed the quarter final line up with a 4–1 victory over Strachur Dunoon.

League action also produced goals across the divisions, with Lovat edging a 3–2 win over Beauly in the National Division, while Lewis secured a 3–0 victory over Strathglass in North Division 2.

One of the standout matches of the weekend came in Lochcarron, where Inverness edged a dramatic 4–3 victory in a game packed with goals and late drama.

South Division 2 delivered the biggest senior scoreline of the weekend, with Kilmory recording a ruthless 12–0 victory over Tayforth.

Youth shinty also produced several eye catching performances, with Skye defeating Glenurquhart 9–0 in the National Under 17 League, while Kingussie secured a 6–2 win over Glenurquhart in the North of Scotland MacTavish Under 17 Trophy.

Kinlochshiel Lochcarron delivered a dominant 7–1 victory over Kilmallie, while Fort William hit nine against Glengarry in the Under 17 Development League.

At Under 14 level, Oban Camanachd defeated Glasgow Mid Argyll 11–1 before later overcoming Kyles Athletic 8–4 in another high scoring encounter.

Across every level of the game, goals continued to flow as the season gathers real momentum heading deeper into spring.
