Shinty Delivers Goals, Heavy Wins and Cup Drama Across The Highlands

Shinty action continued across Scotland on Saturday 16th May 2026, with cup ties, league fixtures and another weekend of heavy scorelines producing goals across every level of the game.

The Balliemore Cup delivered several dominant performances, with Lovat producing the standout result of the round in a ruthless 9–0 victory over Aberdour, powered by five goals from Graeme MacMillan.

Inveraray were equally impressive, sweeping aside Strathglass 8–0 as Coll MacKay, Ruaraidh Graham Jnr and Bryce Griffin all struck twice in a commanding attacking display.

Beauly also secured a composed 4–0 victory over Glasgow Mid Argyll to continue their strong run of form.

In the Premiership, Kingussie delivered one of the biggest scorelines of the season with a staggering 17–0 win over Kyles Athletic in a relentless attacking performance.

Newtonmore maintained their strong form with a controlled 3–0 victory away at Kinlochshiel, while Caberfeidh secured a convincing 4–0 win over Col Glen.

Lochaber and Fort William shared the points in a competitive 2–2 draw, while Oban Camanachd and Skye battled to a goalless stalemate.

North Division 1 again produced goals and drama, with Kinlochshiel defeating Newtonmore 6–3 in a high scoring contest, while Fort William edged Inverness 3–2 and Glengarry defeated Kingussie 2–1.

Lochside Rovers continued their strong form in South Division 1 with a dominant 6–0 victory over Inveraray, while Glasgow Mid Argyll and Ballachulish shared the points in a scoreless draw.

North Division 2 saw Lochaber hit six without reply against Boleskine, while Lewis edged Aberdeen University 1–0 and Beauly secured a late 2–1 win over Kilmallie.

South Division 2 delivered more goals, with Strachur Dunoon defeating Kilmory 5–2 and Aberdour edging Tayforth 4–3 in another entertaining fixture.

Youth shinty again produced several eye catching performances, with Kinlochshiel Lochcarron defeating Lovat 9–1 in the National Under 17 League, while Kingussie secured a 5–0 win over Inverness in the North of Scotland MacTavish Under 17 Trophy.

At Under 14 level, Kinlochshiel Lochcarron delivered an emphatic 11–2 victory over Skye, while Inverness defeated Caberfeidh 8–0 in the Macmaster Cup.

Across the divisions, goals continue to flow as the shinty season builds momentum heading towards the summer.
