Police are appealing for information after a Ford Transit was stolen from Ullapool before apparently being driven more than 200 miles south to Glasgow.

The grey van, registration SK22 XCX, disappeared from the Argyle Street area between late Friday 4 September and Saturday 5 September, with its last reported sighting later that day in Glasgow.

The vehicle was last known to be parked in Argyle Street at around 11.30pm on Friday and was reported stolen at approximately 2.15pm the following day.

Police are now trying to trace the movements of two males captured on CCTV during the early hours of Saturday morning.

The pair were seen acting suspiciously near the Ullapool ferry terminal at around 2.50am before being captured again in the Shore Street and Quay Street areas at approximately 3.20am.

A grey Ford Transit was then seen heading south out of Ullapool at around 3.25am.

The first male is described as around 5ft 8, with dark brown curly hair and stubble, and was wearing a dark coloured zipped top.

The second male is described as being around the same height, of slim build and wearing a dark blue jacket.

Police enquiries have subsequently taken the investigation more than 200 miles from Ullapool to Glasgow.

Sergeant Jo MacLeod, of the Community Policing Team, said:

“Our enquiries suggest the vehicle is now in Glasgow, with the last reported sighting in the Stobcross Road area around 7.45pm on Saturday.

“Fortunately, these types of incidents are very rare in Ullapool, but I would ask if anyone has any information, or if you see the vehicle being driven or parked anywhere, that you please contact us as soon as possible.”

Officers are asking people to keep an eye out for the grey Ford Transit, registration SK22 XCX, and to report any information which could help establish its whereabouts.

Anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in Ullapool during the early hours of Saturday morning may also be able to help with the investigation.
