If you want to spoil the father figure in your life this Father’s Day, then why not head to The Cairngorms, the UK’s biggest National Park, on Sunday, 15 June 2025.

Here a selection of ten Father’s Day activities and experiences for every type of father-figure in your life.

There is something to book for even the most picky of dads, from distillery tours at Tomatin Distillery, to quad bike treks and clay shooting at Dalraddy Estate, to wild adventures at Highland Wildlife Park and an award-winning mountain bike trail centre.

Nestled in the Scottish Highlands, just south of Inverness, Tomatin Distillery offers whisky lovers an unforgettable experience to uncover the true heart of Highland whisky.

Tomatin’s visitor centre and expertly curated tours take guests on a whisky journey of discovery through the area’s deep rooted distilling heritage, dating back to the 15th century, and immerses the senses in an exploration of the legacy of the distillery that has crafted exceptional single malts renowned across the globe.

Tours include the Warehouse 6 Tasting Experience (£80 – 2 hours), an exclusive journey into the soul of the distillery, and The Legacy Tour (£20 – 75 minutes), which takes guests on a journey through Tomatin’s history, from its beginnings in 1897 through the height of production in the 1970s to the present day.

Whisky enthusiasts can also enjoy Taste of Tomatin (£50 – 2 hours), incorporating a dedicated tour and a guided nosing and tasting of four Tomatin expressions and one Cù Bòcan whisky, or discover the art of cask selection with the Single Cask Experience (£70 – 2.5 hours).

Tomatin’s Visitor Centre is open seven days a week from 10:30 to 16:30, from September to March and from 09:30 to 17:30, from April to August.

Clay shooting experience or Farm tours at Alvie & Dalraddy Estates, near Kingussie

Led by a member of the Balchurn Home Farm team, the tour takes visitors by 4×4 across the 13,500-acre estate to meet Shorthorn and Simmental cattle, Blackface, Scotch Mule, and Cheviot sheep, many born and raised right on the farm.

Summer is the perfect time to spot calves and lambs thriving in the fields.

Depending on the day, guests may see hay & silage making or even enjoy a mini sheepdog demonstration.

Highland Wildlife Park, Kincraig, Kingussie

Have yourself a really wild Father’s Day at Highland Wildlife Park, where you can expect to see the recaptured Lynx, which are now on public display.

Highland Wildlife Park is a gateway to the natural world where people can experience nature, learn about the challenges facing wildlife and how they are working to save animals from extinction.

Scotland’s Wildlife Discovery Centre is now open to explore, with three new buildings, featuring an interactive exhibition, a hilltop den where you can learn about the charity’s conservation work and new classrooms to provide space for local communities to engage with the natural world.

The park is open every day of the year and is home to over 200 amazing and endangered animals, including European elk, bison, Scotland’s only polar bears, snow leopards, and native Scottish species like red deer and Scottish wildcats.

Their team of discovery rangers are on hand throughout the day to bring you fascinating animal facts, stories and behind-the-scenes insight to how Highland Wildlife Park cares for the animals you love.

Step into the enchanting world of Eric Carle’s beloved story, brought to life across the grounds of Highland Wildlife Park!

On Thursday, Friday and Saturday, you can prebook a very special Animal Magic Moment and have a once-in-a-lifetime experience with either a snow leopard, Amur tiger or polar bear.

Bike Glenlivet, Ballindalloch

Bike Glenlivet is an award-winning mountain bike trail centre with outstanding cross-country and free-ride trails.

Enjoy the thrills of the zip wire trail and then refuel in the café afterwards.

Bike Glenlivet offer bike hire and has family-friendly and challenging cross-country singletrack trails to keep everyone amused.

The bike trails are open 24/7.

The continuous wire zip line trail features 13 descents, 3 bridges, a double wire to finish and a whole lot of fun.

The Loch Insh Outdoor Centre, Kincraig, Kingussie

Book your father in for some water based fun at The Loch Insh Outdoor Centre.

Loch Insh Outdoor Centre sits in the foothills of the Cairngorm Mountains, at the lower end of Glen Feshie offering a wide range of multi-sport activities on the loch for the whole family.

Take your pick from 1.5 hour canoeing, kayaking or sailing which cost from as little as £20, as well as the more family friendly pedalos which you can hire for £40 for up to 6 people.

Or for an extra special experience why not join a river trip from Kingussie to Loch Insh following the beaver trail with guided trips costing £60 per person (4 minimum)

For the more adventurous dads how about the Jungle Float will be out on the water £15 per person for 1.5 hours.

If you dad doesn’t want to get wet, there is a dry ski slope operating all year round for skiing, snowboarding and tubing and there are mountain bikes to hire, with a half-day bike hire costs £18 for children or adults £20, or  Archery session is £22 per person (1hr).

Strathspey Railway, Aviemore

Let the train take the strain with a nostalgic train journey aboard a steam train with Strathspey Railway to savour the sights, sounds and smell of a bygone era.

Journey through the stunning scenery between Aviemore – Boat of Garten – Broomhill.

The return trip lasts around 1 hour and 40 minutes, departing from Aviemore and visiting Boat of Garten and Broomhill stations before returning to Aviemore.

These trips are usually steam-hauled but are subject to change.

The Aviemore to Broomhill is timetabled to run and costs £24.50 with Senior ticket for over 60’s costing £22.50, Child aged 5 – 15 years old cost £14.50 and under 5’s go free.

There is a family discount ticket for £55 (2+2).

Cairngorm Mountain, Aviemore
