New research reveals the most Instagrammable mountain destinations in the UK & Ireland – the Highlands ranks 1st.
The outdoor experts at Blacks analysed the most popular hashtags for each mountain destination, as of December 2021, to reveal the most ‘Instagrammable’ mountain destinations.

The most popular mountain destination for sharing travel inspiration on Instagram is the Scottish Highlands, with over two and a half million tags for #highlands.
The second most ‘Instagrammable’ mountain destination is County Galway.
With over 1.9 million tags for #countygalway, the epic scenery makes the destination the perfect backdrop for an Instagram post.
Cumbria ranks in third place.
Cumbria is of course home to the English Lake District, but you may be surprised to know that it is home to just four ‘major’ mountains – although it is still the only county in England to be home to any at all.
