The Terrifying Tenner

Nairn BID is launching a new October campaign designed with Halloween in mind to support businesses and allow customers to get their teeth stuck into some frighteningly good offers.

The Terrifying Tenner will run from October 21 to Halloween Day itself and is designed to encourage people to shop local.

The initiative is being run to replace a national campaign which Nairn BID had previously supported.

Nairn BID manager Lucy Harding explained:

“We have previously joined a national campaign run by grass roots group Totally Locally and it was always a popular initiative.

“This isn’t returning until February 2025, so we have decided to try and create a bit of buzz for Nairn and the businesses that we represent and run one ourselves.

“As it runs in the Autumn, we have decided to have a bit of fun with it and have branded it the “Terrifying Tenner,” as we know there will be offers so good they will leave a chill down your spine!”

For businesses to get involved, all they have to do is come up with a £10 offer, let us know what it is and we will promote it via our social media channels and on the Nairn BID website.

The Nairn BID team will also supply its members with petrifying posters to promote what they are doing is the hope that we encourage the people of the town to dust off the cobwebs in their wallets and get spending.

Nicola Mackinlay who co-owns Makes By Megs bakery and MNMS Café on Leopold Street and another branch in Elgin with Megan Mclean said she was delighted the campaign was running:

“We are thrilled that this is coming back with a Halloween twist.

“We have run offers in the past and it’s a great way or promoting what we do.

“We found that the previous campaigns with Totally Locally not only got existing customers coming into the café, but also generated new customers.

“We had people who were actually doing wee tours of Nairn looking for all the offers.”

Nicola added:

“I would urge the businesses of the town to get involved in this new Terrifying Tenner initiative.

“Megan and I have embraced many of the Nairn BID campaigns and opportunities such as the markets and sponsorship and it really pays dividends.

“We have only ever generated more footfall on market days.

“We were also the hospitality sponsor at Wheels of Nairn for the second year in a row.

“This year, as well as supplying the entrants with cake and hot drinks, we also sold to the public and doing that more than covered any costs and it was brilliant brand awareness.”
