Staff at Thurso Leisure Centre are putting their best foot forward to help children who need it most.
The dedicated team of 14 High Life Highland employees has pledged to walk 5,000 steps every single day throughout April.
It’s all part of MFR’s Step Around Scotland challenge, which encourages people to get active and raise vital funds for Cash for Kids.
By the end of the month, the Thurso crew is set to rack up a staggering three million steps.
On top of that, they’ll be doing it in style with bright, bold t-shirts supplied by Highland Workwear.
The national radio campaign is aiming to reach a collective total of 16 million steps across Scotland.
MFR’s region alone hopes to contribute at least one million steps to the target by Cash for Kids Day on 1 May.
But the Thurso Leisure team didn’t want to stop there.
They’re hitting the pavements daily, bringing the local community together with a goal far greater than just step counts.
Amy Sutherland, Exercise Instructor at Thurso Leisure Centre, said the cause hit close to home.
Many of the team are parents themselves and know the pressures families face during school holidays.
Amy said it’s heartbreaking to think some children go without meals when schools are shut.
She said that’s exactly why they were so eager to get involved.
The challenge is about more than walking.
The team plans to inject fun into the fundraiser with themed walks, local adventures, and even the occasional fancy dress outing.
Everyone is invited to join them – whether you’re a family member, friend, or one of their regular gym-goers.
Each step they take will help fund meals and activities for children in need, right here in the Highlands.
Cash for Kids ensures all donations stay in the area, supporting disadvantaged families directly.
It’s a team effort in every sense, combining fitness, fundraising and community spirit.
