Title Race Set for Dramatic Finish as Post Split Fixtures Confirmed

The Scottish Professional Football League has confirmed the post split fixtures for the 2025 to 2026 William Hill Premiership season, setting the stage for a dramatic run in to the title.

With just six rounds remaining, Heart of Midlothian lead the table by a single point from Rangers, with Celtic three points further back as one of the closest title races in recent memory reaches its final stretch.

The top six has now been confirmed, with Heart of Midlothian, Rangers, Celtic, Motherwell and Hibernian joined by Falkirk, who secured their place with a 3 to 2 win at Fir Park in their first top flight season since 2009.

The post split fixtures begin on the weekend of 25 and 26 April, with an Edinburgh derby between Hibernian and leaders Heart of Midlothian at Easter Road selected for live coverage.

That match follows Celtic’s meeting with Falkirk, also selected for broadcast, as the opening weekend sets the tone for what lies ahead.

Attention then turns to another major double header the following weekend, with Hibernian hosting Celtic before Heart of Midlothian welcome Rangers to Tynecastle on the Monday.

As the run in intensifies, all eyes will be on the meeting between Celtic and Rangers at Celtic Park on 10 May, a fixture that could prove decisive in the outcome of the title race.

The final round of top six fixtures will take place on 16 May, with all matches kicking off simultaneously, including Celtic against Heart of Midlothian, Rangers travelling to Falkirk and Hibernian hosting Motherwell.

Across the bottom six, key fixtures have also been selected for live coverage, including the Dundee derby at Tannadice and matches involving Livingston, Aberdeen and Kilmarnock as the fight to avoid danger continues.

This season will also set a new record for televised Premiership matches, with 72 games already selected for live broadcast and more still to be confirmed.

Calum Beattie said:

“Following the weekend’s results, we are delighted to publish the post-split fixtures and the majority of broadcast selections to allow clubs and supporters to make plans for what promises to be a fantastic few weeks of football with so much at stake across the William Hill Premiership.

“This has been a season like no other, with so many talking points and unrivalled drama.

“We would like to thank Sky Sports and Premier Sports for showcasing the very best of our game, with more live games than ever before and look forward to watching all the action unfold.”

Gary Hughes said:

“This is crunch time in the Scottish Premiership title race.

“It’s been one of the great stories of the football season so far.

“With everyone set to play each other again, there promises to be plenty more drama to come.

“Sky Sports is excited to bring more post-split matches than ever before, providing unrivalled coverage and expert analysis of the run-in.”

With every team in the top six still having a say in the outcome, the final weeks promise tension, momentum swings and a title race that could go right to the last kick.
