Macleod Roofing Marks 35 Years With New Highland Community Fund

Macleod Roofing has launched a new Community Fund as it marks 35 years in business, strengthening its long standing support for communities across the Highlands.

The Inverness based company, founded in 1990, has used its anniversary year to formalise decades of local backing into a clear and structured commitment.

What began as a one man operation in Golspie under founder Sandy Macleod has grown into a 60 strong team working across towns, villages and rural communities throughout the north.

Over the years, the company has worked on everything from community halls and schools to hospitals and commercial developments, building a reputation rooted in consistency and trust.

Alongside its core work, Macleod Roofing has quietly supported local life, backing youth teams and sports clubs, contributing to fundraising events, and stepping in with practical help where it was needed.

That support has included a donation to the Elsie Normington Foundation, funding for a Highland Hospice support van, backing projects through The Archie Foundation at Raigmore Hospital’s Children’s Unit, and delivering pro bono roofing work for community groups including the Inverness Sea Cadets.

The new Community Fund brings all of that activity together under one banner, offering a clear route for charities, schools, non profits and community organisations to apply for support.

The fund will provide financial help, materials, roofing expertise and promotional backing, with a focus on projects that deliver lasting benefit for people living in the Highlands.

Sandy Macleod said:

“For 35 years, we’ve worked in Highland communities every single day.

“We’ve grown because local people trusted us and supported us.

“We’re not a national corporation with endless resources, but we are incredibly proud of the difference we’ve been able to make in our own communities.

“My hope is that the fund will help ensure the support we give is shared fairly and reaches the projects that need it most.

“Ultimately, it’s about making sure we continue to stand behind the communities that have stood behind us.

“And if there’s a project that’s making a difference locally, we want to play our part, however big or small.”

The company has also confirmed that its Armed Forces Covenant commitment will continue, with pro bono or discounted roof repairs offered each year to veterans and military families facing hardship across the region.

To mark both the anniversary and the launch of the fund, Macleod Roofing has unveiled a newly sign written van that will travel across Highland communities in the months ahead.

The message is simple and clear, this is a business built in the Highlands that intends to keep investing in the people and places that shaped it.
