Weekend of Glory as Cup Dreams and League Battles Unfold

Kingussie marched into the MacTavish Cup Final with a clinical 2-0 win over Lochaber, thanks to late strikes from Roddy Young and Savio Genini.

The match stayed cagey until the 63rd minute, when Young finally found the breakthrough and Genini sealed it just six minutes later.

Lovat also booked their place in the final with a composed performance against Fort William.

Greg Matheson broke the deadlock shortly after the break, before Marc MacLachlan made it safe with a calm finish in the 70th minute.

Over in the Celtic Society Cup, Kyles Athletic edged out Inveraray in a heart-racing 3-2 after extra time.

Luke Thornton equalised from the spot on 86 minutes, Innes MacDonald gave Kyles the lead in the 90th, and James Pringle struck the winner deep in extra time.

Oban Camanachd also found their way through, coming from behind to beat Glasgow Mid Argyll 2-1 with goals from Ross MacMillan and Gregor MacDonald.

In the Chieftain’s Cup, Oban Celtic fought back from a goal down to beat Lochcarron 3-1, with Kyle MacFarlane scoring twice in quick succession.

Glengarry were too strong for Kilmory in a 4-1 win, powered by a double from Raymond Robertson.

Ballachulish showed their class with a 6-2 victory away to the English Shinty Association, with goals shared across five scorers.

Ardnamurchan and Uddingston served up a cracker, with the visitors winning 4-3 after extra time despite a Herbie Patterson hat-trick.

In the Mowi Premiership, Caberfeidh claimed a confident 3-0 win over Beauly with goals from Kevin Bartlett, Logan Beaton and Kyle Grant.

Newtonmore kept the pressure on at the top by seeing off Kinlochshiel 2-0, both goals coming from the reliable Iain Robinson.

In the National Division, Bute blew Glenurquhart away with a 5-0 win, Rory McDonald and Scott Harvey sharing four between them.

In North Division 1, Glenurquhart edged Kingussie 2-1 and Kinlochshiel thumped Newtonmore 5-1 with a Rory Barclay hat-trick.

Skye’s 2-0 win over Fort William was sealed by Ruaraidh MacLeod, who struck twice in the first half.

Aberdeen University saw off Boleskine 3-0 in North Division 2, while Caberfeidh hit four past Inverness.

Lewis ran riot with a 5-2 win against Lovat, with Donnie MacRae and Paul Duke scoring two each.

Kilmallie also impressed with a 4-1 win over Lochaber, scoring three times in the space of 13 second-half minutes.

In the South, Bute edged out Aberdour 2-1, while Kyles Athletic’s tie with Strachur-Dunoon was postponed.

Youth results saw Newtonmore Under 17s steamroll Ardnamurchan 26-0 in a jaw-dropping display, with Joe Coyle scoring 11.

Kinlochshiel Under 14s eased past Inverness 5-0, while Fort William’s Under 14s beat Lochaber 4-0.

In the women’s game, Badenoch beat Skye 2-1 with goals from Megan Ralph and Hope Borthwick.

Lochaber beat Inverness 3-0, and GMA saw off Kinlochshiel 4-2 thanks to a Lucy McNulty hat-trick.

Aberdour put in the weekend’s standout performance, demolishing Uddingston 12-0.

Dunadd came from behind to beat Tayforth 3-1 in the Challenge Cup, while Ardnamurchan won 4-2 against ESA.

Inveraray defeated GMA 3-1 with a brace from Hannah MacDonald, and Badenoch edged Strathspey 4-3.

Glengarry were beaten 3-1 at home by Glenurquhart, who finished strong to take the points.

Strathglass rounded off the action with a 7-1 win over Lochaber in a confident showing.
