Essential resurfacing projects across five locations on the A82 and A83 are set to get underway from Tuesday night (June 2nd).
Work is planned to take place at Corrychurachan and Corran Ferry Junction on the A82, and once complete teams will address three sections of the A83 including two areas south of Furnace and one at Erines.
These essential surfacing projects will ensure the trunk road is strengthened and in a safe working condition.
Strict physical distancing protocols are in place to ensure all site personnel remain safe once the project gets underway.
The overnight projects are set to begin on Tuesday 2 June and are expected to take ten nights to complete.
The essential maintenance work will take place between 8pm and 5am each night with the work scheduled to be completed by 5am on Tuesday 16 June.
No works are programmed to take place on Friday or Saturday nights.
Work is expected to take place as follows:
A82 Corrychurachan – Tuesday 2 June to Wednesday 3 June (two nights)
A82 Corran Ferry Junction – Thursday 4 June to Sunday 7 June (two nights), excluding Friday and Saturday night.
A83 Erines South Lodge – Monday 8 June to Tuesday 9 June (two nights)
A83 White Bridge Cottage (south of Furnace) – Wednesday 10 June to Thursday 11 June (two nights)
A83 South of Furnace – Sunday 14 June to Monday 15 June (two nights)
Due to the narrow widths at each location, work will be undertaken using a full road closure for safety.
As there is no suitable diversion route available, amnesties will be provided at 9pm, 10pm, 12am, 2am and 4am each night.
During these times vehicles will be safely escorted through the site under a 10mph convoy. Emergency services will be able to pass through the works at all times.
The A82 and A83 will remain open during the daytime to keep disruption to a minimum, however, to ensure the safety of motorists a speed restriction of 30mph will remain in place as traffic will be running on a temporary surface.

“Thorough risk assessments have been developed and cleansing stations will be implemented on site to ensure all staff remain safe.
“It is essential this work is completed so that the A82 and A83 can be repaired at these locations and ensure the trunk road network remains safe for key workers, deliveries and those making essential journeys.
“For safety the road has to be closed overnight while we complete the work however we’ve arranged for amnesties to be in place to allow any waiting traffic to pass through the project.
“As ever we’ll do all we can to ensure that this project is completed as quickly and as safely as possible.”
