Works has begun on the improvements and is expected to take three weeks.
Overnight road closures in place for safety, 8pm – 6am, excluding Friday and Saturday nights
Work has begun on the A82 at Drumnadrochit on road surfacing works as a £685,000 maintenance project is underway.
The project will see almost 2km of carriageway on the A82 between Drumnadrochit and Temple Pier resurfaced, creating a smoother and safer journey for motorists.
The overnight project began last night, Sunday 15 March and is programmed to take fifteen nights to complete.
The surfacing improvements will take place between 8pm and 6am each night with work due to be completed by 6am Friday 3 April.
No works will take place on Friday or Saturday nights.
To keep roadworkers as well as road users safe during the project, an overnight road closure will be in place over the extent of the project during working hours due to the narrow road widths on this section of the A82.
To help minimise disruption, amnesties will be provided at 10pm, 12am, 2am and 4am to safely escort traffic through the work site.
The road will be open during the day however a 30mph speed limit will be in place.
Emergency services will be able to pass through at all times and local access for residents living within the closure points will be maintained when it is safe to pass through the work area.
Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to make them aware of the plans and share information about the project in advance.

“Due to the narrow road widths, it is essential we close the road to ensure the safety of road workers and motorists.
“We’ve taken on board feedback from the consultation process and have taken steps to minimise disruption by carrying out the works overnight, pushing the start time back to 8pm and avoiding working Friday and Saturday nights to help limit the impact on residents and motorists.
“We thank motorists and the local community in advance for their patience while we carry out the project.
“We encourage motorists to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website before setting off for up to date traffic information.”
