Argyll and Bute Communities Invited to Apply for New Round of Local Funding

Argyll and Bute Council has opened applications for its Supporting Communities Fund 2026 to 2027 with grants of up to £1,500 available for local groups working to improve life across the region.

The fund has already supported more than 850 community projects since launching and continues to back grassroots organisations delivering practical help, creativity, environmental action and community resilience.

Applications officially opened on Monday 11 May and will remain open until Sunday 5 July 2026.

The funding is aimed at not for profit organisations across Argyll and Bute with projects focused on supporting fairer communities, building local resilience, improving the environment and using creativity to improve health and wellbeing.

Previous projects supported through the scheme have ranged from community orchestras and environmental initiatives to local events, wellbeing programmes and resilience planning.

The council says the fund is designed to help communities turn local ideas into positive action while supporting the people already working voluntarily to strengthen towns and villages across the area.

Councillor William Sinclair, Policy Lead for Community Planning, said:

“Over the years, this fund has supported hundreds of inspiring community led projects right across Argyll and Bute.

“From practical support for families to creative programmes that bring people together, it continues to make a real difference.

“We’re incredibly lucky to have dedicated residents who run a wide range of groups, often working voluntarily for the good of their community.

“This funding could make all the difference, so I’d encourage groups of all sizes to consider applying.”

The continued success of the fund reflects the important role small local organisations play across rural Scotland where community groups often fill gaps, organise events and provide support that larger systems struggle to reach consistently.

For many groups, relatively small grants can have a significant impact by helping projects move from ideas into something tangible within their communities.
