Badenoch and Dunadd lifted major silverware as women’s shinty took centre stage on a dramatic weekend of action.
Badenoch defeated Kinlochshiel 5–3 after extra time to claim the Mowi Valerie Fraser Camanachd Cup, while Dunadd edged Aberdour 7–6 in an extraordinary Mowi Challenge Cup Final.
The Valerie Fraser Camanachd Cup Final saw Kinlochshiel find the net through Lexie MacKenzie, Alaina MacLennan and Lorna MacRae, but Badenoch ultimately emerged with the trophy.
Kirsty Deans scored twice for Badenoch, Hope Borthwick also struck twice and Lexie Farquhar completed their five goals as they secured one of the biggest prizes in the women’s game.
There was even more goalmouth action in the Challenge Cup Final as Dunadd and Aberdour shared 13 goals.
Eilidh Cameron scored four and Iona McCulloch grabbed a hat trick as Dunadd claimed a remarkable 7–6 victory.
Aberdour pushed them all the way, with Rebecca Thorington scoring a hat trick, Katie Booth adding two and Mathilda Ritchie also finding the net.
The Caol Cup Under 21 representative match saw the North record an emphatic 5–0 victory over the South.
Archie MacKinnon opened the scoring after three minutes before Archie Millar doubled the advantage, with Daniel MacLean scoring twice and Jack Kearney also getting on the scoresheet.
There was just one Mowi Premiership fixture on the week’s results sheet, with Oban Camanachd securing a 1–0 victory over Lochaber on Tuesday evening.
Ross Campbell scored the only goal after eight minutes to give Oban Camanachd the points.
Youth shinty provided plenty of action throughout the week, with Skye defeating Kingussie 5–2 in the National Under 17 London Shield knockout competition.
Newtonmore recorded an 8–4 victory over Fort William in the North of Scotland Under 17 Development League, with Jaiden McCormack and Brodie Campbell both scoring hat tricks.
Glenurquhart edged Lochaber 3–2 in the same competition, while several other fixtures were postponed.
At Under 14 level, Kingussie defeated Kilmallie 4–2, Beauly recorded a 5–0 victory over Glenurquhart and Inverness edged Lochaber 3–2.
With two women’s trophies decided, representative shinty and another busy youth programme, it was a weekend which demonstrated the strength and breadth of the game across the different levels of competition.
