Declutter your space and discover new hobbies at a unique event taking place in Inverness this month.

The Hyperfixation Swap Party is a chance to pass on items such as art supplies, craft kits, games and fitness equipment that are no longer being used. It’s also an opportunity to take home something new to inspire your next creative project.

The event is being organised by Highland charity Dopamine Dolls as part of their celebrations for ADHD Awareness Month. Everyone over the age of 18 is welcome to attend.

Ashley Hope, CEO and Chair of Dopamine Dolls, said:

“Have you ever jumped headfirst into a new hobby, only to lose interest almost immediately and move on to something else?

“You’re not alone!

“ADHD minds often dive into activities with enthusiasm, but quickly move on to the next exciting thing.

“At this event, you’ll be among people who understand this journey.

“Whether you’re looking to declutter or find some creative inspiration, this party is for you.

“This is an ADHD-friendly event where you can exchange your gently used hobby items for something new and exciting.”

The Hyperfixation Swap Party is being held at Spectrum Centre and Hidden Gem Café, 1B Margaret Street, Inverness, on Saturday 26 October.

Item drop off and registration is at 9.30am; the event opens at 10am; swapping starts at 10.15am; final swaps take place at 11.30am followed by mingling and craft activities; and the party ends at midday.

People who are looking to pick up a new hobby but don’t have anything to swap can still attend.

Tickets cost £7 for people bringing an item/s to swap and £10 for those who don’t bring anything.

Attendees can bring up to three gently used hobby items to swap.

These must be clean, in good condition, and complete with all necessary parts and materials.

No food, perishables, or hazardous materials are permitted.

A detailed breakdown of acceptable items for swapping can be found on Dopamine Dolls’ website.

Dopamine Dolls was formed just under two years ago by two young women who were waiting to be assessed for ADHD – Ashley Hope and Isla Urquhart.

The charity offers a peer-led community support service for women and non-binary people living with ADHD in the Highlands.

October is ADHD Awareness Month and Dopamine Dolls are spending the 31 days debunking myths associated with the neurodiverse condition, and highlighting some of the many ways it can impact people’s lives.

Follow the Dopamine Dolls’ social media channels throughout the month for real life stories, a chance to meet the volunteers behind the charity, conversations about symptoms and hyperfixations, opportunities to share your own experience of living with ADHD, and much more.
