Inverness Airport is getting a new direct connection to Germany next summer, with Discover Airlines launching the first ever nonstop service between the Highland capital and Frankfurt.
The weekly service will begin on Saturday 19 June 2027 and operate every Saturday until 11 September, bringing a new airline to Inverness and opening another international gateway for passengers across the Highlands and Islands.
Flights will leave Frankfurt at 1.40pm and arrive in Inverness at 2.45pm, before departing the Highlands at 3.30pm and landing back in Frankfurt at 6.30pm.
The route gives Highland travellers direct access to Germany while also opening up opportunities for onward journeys through Frankfurt to destinations across Europe and further afield.
Frankfurt is one of Europe’s major aviation hubs, making the new connection potentially valuable well beyond passengers whose final destination is Germany.
There is an important inbound opportunity too, with Inverness becoming easier to reach for German visitors looking towards the Highlands for holidays built around scenery, nature and the outdoors.
Discover Airlines is part of the Lufthansa Group and operates from hubs in Frankfurt and Munich to destinations across Europe and beyond.
The new route builds on Inverness Airport’s previous relationship with the Lufthansa Group, which has included Lufthansa services between Inverness and Düsseldorf.

The arrival of another international airline is welcome news for Inverness Airport and for a region where good transport connections matter enormously to both the visitor economy and the people who live here.
For Highland travellers, Frankfurt puts another major European hub within one direct flight of home.
For German visitors, the journey works just as neatly in the opposite direction, with the Highlands waiting when they step off the aircraft.
