The New Year marks the beginning of a thrilling transformation for Whin Park, a cherished destination in Inverness.
Councillor Ian Brown, Leader of Inverness and Area, confirmed that work on the park’s new play area will kick off on Monday, 6 January 2025, bringing innovative equipment and enhanced accessibility.
The project will be led by Jupiter Play and Leisure Ltd, with their on-site contractor, Play Works Ltd, overseeing the installation of the exciting new features.
Weather permitting, the ambitious upgrades are scheduled to be completed in time for Easter 2025, offering families a refreshed space just as the season begins.
While the park will remain open during construction, the main play area and a section of the car park near the shop will be temporarily closed to allow the work to progress.
The surrounding path network will remain accessible, giving visitors a chance to watch the changes unfold at this beloved location.
Michael Hoenigmann, Managing Director of Jupiter Play & Leisure, shared his enthusiasm for the project, describing it as inclusive for all abilities and packed with unique features.
A standout attraction will be the Nessie Structure with an Interactive Sona Arch, set to delight families with its imaginative design and high play value.
The redevelopment is backed by significant funding, including £234,988 from the Scottish Government Play Area Fund, allocated by local ward members.
Additional support includes £150,000 from the Inverness Common Good Fund, approved in 2023, and a further £100,000 from the Community Regeneration Fund in 2024.
Highland Council has promised regular updates as the work progresses, keeping the public informed during this exciting new chapter for Whin Park.
This landmark project reflects a strong commitment to creating an inclusive and engaging space for families across the Highlands and beyond.
