Adventurists can explore scenic Scotland by rail and bike, with free and discounted cycle hire, thanks to partnerships between ScotRail and Brompton Bicycle, Blair Atholl Bike Hire, Ticket to Ride, and Nevis Cycles.

The train operator has teamed up with cycle hire firm, Brompton Bicycle, to offer ScotRail customers 24 hours free bike hire in Inverness, Elgin, and Oban.

Customers in Inverness can also take advantage of a 10 per cent discount on cycle hire at Ticket to Ride, or 15 per cent off with a Spirit of Scotland travel pass

In Oban and Fort William, a partnership with Nevis Cycles means ScotRail customers can claim 10 per cent off cycle hire with a valid rail ticket, or 15 per cent with a Spirit of Scotland travel pass.

A 10 per cent discount is also available at Blair Atholl Bike Hire, allowing ScotRail customers to explore the stunning landscapes around Blair Atholl by bike.

Full details on all of the offers are available on the ScotRail website

Andrew Marshall-Roberts, ScotRail Active Travel Manager, said:

“ScotRail is committed to promoting active travel and developing a more integrated transport network in Scotland.

“We know that journeys don’t start and end at the train station, and there are increasing numbers of people taking day trips, long weekends, and short stays across the country.

“Our partnerships with Brompton Bike Hire, Blair Atholl Bike Hire, Ticket to Ride, and Nevis Cycles will allow more people to explore the best that scenic Scotland has to offer while encouraging an active lifestyle with great economic benefits for the tourist industry in these areas.”
