Family Mourns Thomas Sharpe After Tragic North Uist Crash

A man who lost his life in a road crash on North Uist has been named as 43 year old Thomas Sharpe.

Police confirmed Thomas’s name as their investigation continues into the collision on the A867 near Lochmaddy, while expressing their sympathy to the family and friends now mourning his loss.

The crash happened at Loch A’Bhruid at around 8.55pm on Wednesday 30 September and involved a black Mercedes A Class and a black Kia Ceed.

Thomas died following the collision, and officers are continuing their enquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding what happened that evening.

Sergeant Calum MacAulay said:

“Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Thomas at this very difficult time.

“Our enquiries are still continuing, and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the crash or has dash-cam footage to come forward.

“You may have captured something that could assist our investigation.”

Police are particularly keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or was travelling through the area and may have recorded something on a dash cam which could help officers piece together what happened.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 3342 of 30 September 2026.

Behind every fatal collision is a family receiving news that changes everything, and while the police investigation continues, thoughts across the island will be with Thomas’s family and friends as they come to terms with his loss.
