The Highland Council is advising householders who have purchased a Garden Waste Collection Service permit for 2020/21, that the current permit started on the 1st of September and will run until the 31st of August 2021, with collections continuing until the end of November.

Councillor Henderson, Chair of the Communities and Place Committee said:

โ€œUsually our garden waste collections stop for the winter at the end of October but this year the crews will be collecting brown bins right through until the end of November.

โ€œThe service will then stop for the months of December, January and February before resuming in March 2021.

โ€œThe response from householders for the service has once again been very encouraging.

โ€œBrown bin collections are a convenient and easy way for householders to manage their garden waste, it is also a great way of diverting waste away from costly landfill.โ€

The final collection day this year before the winter break will be on Monday 30 November.

Householders can still purchase Garden waste permits on-line here

The Garden Waste Collection Service is for the recycling of the following from your garden: grass cuttings, hedge trimmings, twigs and small branches, flowers, plants and weeds.

Customers are asked to check the contents of their bin to ensure it contains no contamination.

The service is optional, and householders are also able to take their garden waste along to their local Recycling Centre free of charge.
