As spring travel begins across the Highlands, one well known stop in Tyndrum is standing out for putting dogs firmly at the centre of the journey.
The Real Food Cafe, recently voted the UK’s best dog friendly eatery, is welcoming thousands of visitors heading north with an approach that goes far beyond basic access.

Located on one of Scotland’s busiest tourist routes, the café sees more than 200,000 visitors during the spring and summer months, making it a natural pause point for long journeys.
For dog owners, it offers a space where pets are not just allowed but actively catered for as part of the experience.
Sarah Heward said:
“For us, being dog friendly is not just about making it accessible for dogs and their owners, it’s about making sure they are welcomed and included as part of the experience.
“We see hundreds of dogs every week during the busy summer months, so it’s something we’ve really thought about, from having space for them to settle after a long journey to making sure there’s something on the menu just for them.
“I’m a dog owner myself and wanted to create the type of experience I would like to enjoy with my dog when I’m out and about travelling.”
The café offers a dedicated dog menu including a fish and chips style meal made with salmon and trout, alongside sweet potato chips, peas and dried sprats.
Additional options include smaller snacks designed for dogs needing a quick bite during a journey.
Outdoor seating allows both owners and their pets to take in the surrounding scenery, while giving dogs space to relax after time on the road.
Tyndrum remains a key gateway for visitors travelling between the central belt, Glencoe and the west coast, with the café positioned as a reliable and welcoming stop along the route.
House rules are in place to maintain a comfortable environment, including guidance on behaviour and conditions for dogs entering indoor spaces.
The approach reflects a growing demand for travel experiences that properly include pets rather than simply accommodate them.
