A historic firm of solicitors in Inverness, that has provided legal services throughout the Highlands for over 145 years, has appointed a new director to its board.
Laura Cormack has been named a director of Inverness-based Innes & Mackay, after first joining the firm over a decade ago as a legal secretary.
“I’ve always been just as interested in the way the firm is run as I have in providing high quality legal services to our clients.
“I’m looking forward to working with the team to build on our solid reputation, expanding our reach across the Highlands while maintaining the high quality of legal advice our clients have come to expect.”
Laura, who is from Inverness, started her career as a cashier at a law firm in Ayr before moving back home to the Highlands.
Joining Innes & Mackay in 2010, she soon showed an aptitude for legal studies – completing her paralegal qualification and then Law Society exams on the path to becoming a solicitor.
Completing her training last year, Laura quickly displayed the qualities required to make the step up to being appointed a director.
“I didn’t go to university, so at times in my career is has been quite difficult to juggle studying with a full-time job.
“Studying to become a solicitor with the Law Society involves a great deal of self-guided work – there are no lectures or tutorials – so it taught me an even greater level of discipline in managing my time.”
Innes & Mackay has been a constant presence in the Highlands for over 145 years, providing a wide range of legal services to clients across the region from its base in Inverness.
The firm provides high-quality legal advice in property and land law, estate agency, family law, powers of attorney, wills, executries and guardianships.
