Much of the Highlands is basking in unseasonably warm sunshine, but a cooler, wetter spell is edging closer.
High pressure has kept the region dry and bright all week, delivering spring warmth well above average for the time of year.
Perthshire led the way on Tuesday, hitting 20.9°C — the highest temperature in Scotland so far this year.
That warmth spread eastwards on Thursday, bringing a rare touch of heat to parts of the Moray coast and Aberdeenshire.
Today, Friday, stays largely dry and fine across the Highlands, with sunny spells and temperatures still feeling pleasantly mild.
However, change is coming for the weekend, as the weather begins to shift towards a more unsettled pattern.
The far northwest will be first to notice the difference, with rain and drizzle moving in later today and into tonight.
According to the Met Office, the high pressure system responsible for our recent dry spell is now on the move.
As it drifts away, a new system brings with it cloudier skies, patchy rain, and a dip in temperatures for many areas.
Saturday will begin on a calm note for most of the Highlands, but rain will start pushing in from the south and west later in the day.
Some southern and eastern parts may hold onto dry weather a little longer, though cloud will increase.
By Sunday, fresher air from the Atlantic is expected to spread across the region, with more widespread showers moving through.
The exact position and intensity of these showers is still uncertain, but most areas can expect a damp end to the weekend.
Looking ahead to next week, low pressure looks set to linger to the west of the UK.
That means more showers, longer spells of rain, but also a few brighter intervals here and there.
Temperatures will return to more typical April levels, feeling noticeably cooler than recent days.
Enjoy the last of the warmth today, because it looks like the wellies might be needed by Sunday.
