Highland Council is set to commence footway improvement works on Culloden Road in Inverness, enhancing the area’s infrastructure for active travel.
Chair of the Economy and Infrastructure Committee, Councillor Ken Gowans, expressed support for the project, assuring residents that efforts will be made to minimise disruption during the works.
The improvements will cover the stretch of Culloden Road (B9006) between the junctions of Caulfield Road and Tower Road, providing safer and more accessible pathways.
Key elements include widening the footway on the North side by replacing roadside cobblestones and grass verges with tarmac, ensuring a smoother and more reliable surface.
Upgrades to road crossing points on the South side will enhance access to the North path, featuring drop kerbs, tactile paving, and surface repairs.
The works are scheduled to start on 7 January 2025 and will continue for up to eight weeks, aiming to deliver long-lasting improvements to the area.
Pat Munro Ltd has been appointed as the contractor responsible for completing the project, including all pedestrian and traffic management.
This investment reflects Highland Council’s commitment to promoting active travel and improving infrastructure for the benefit of residents and visitors alike.
