The City of Inverness Area Committee has approved a list of prioritised roadworks to be funded through Highland Council’s Capital Budget for 2025/26.
While the final local allocations capital budget for 2025/26 is yet to be established, it will be based on the approved capital budget allocation.
The estimated allocation for the City of Inverness Area, based on 2024/25 figures, stands at £1,660,302.50.
This comprises £1,504,962.50 for overlay and inlay works and £155,340.00 for surface dressing works.
Cllr Ian Brown, Leader of Inverness and Area, welcomed the agreement on the proposed resurfacing and surface dressing programmes.
“Members valued the chance to review and approve these programmes at Ward business meetings,” he said.
“I am pleased we have agreed on several schemes that can now be prioritised for capital funding.”
Funding has been allocated for 31 specified locations for road resurfacing, including seven footpaths scheduled for reconstruction or resurfacing.
An additional 53 locations have been prioritised for resurfacing, pending any increases in the capital budget and potential underspend carryovers.
A dedicated budget of £200,000 for major patching across all Inverness Wards has also been agreed.
For surface dressing works, 12 locations have been prioritised within the current capital allocation.
A further 20 locations are on standby should additional funds become available.
Details of the prioritised roadworks can be found in the budget report appendices 2 and 3, accessible via the Highland Council website.
Members noted that any future changes to the area roads capital programme will be discussed and agreed upon during Ward business meetings.
This approach ensures a flexible and dynamic programme responsive to local needs.
