The Kessock Bridge, which sees 30,000 motorist’s cross daily, is to undergo a five month long repainting project, commencing Monday February 17th 2025.

BEAR Scotland have been tasked with the job, on behalf of Transport Scotland.

Work is expected to last for 22 weeks with the work being carried out between 7am and 5pm, seven days a week.

No delays or disruptions are expected for road users, although there will be an increased number of site-related traffic.

There is a diversion already in place for pedestrians and cyclists due to other work.

The project on the 43-year-old bridge is expected to cost £1.5 million.

The bridge is a key link, carrying the A9 trunk road over the Kessock Channel, between Inverness and the Black Isle.

Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said:

“This painting work on Kessock Bridge will provide a protective coating over the structural steel, ensuring that the bridge continues to operate safely into the future.

“Our teams will carry out these works quickly, with safety as our top priority.

“We thank the local community and road users for their patience while we complete the improvements.”
