Labour is heading for a disastrous election result, with Anas Sarwar paying the price for what the SNP calls “broken promises.”
A new poll by Norstat for the Sunday Times shows Labour support has plummeted by 15 points in under a year, leaving them tied with the Conservatives on just 18 seats.
The poll also predicts a pro-independence majority in the next Scottish Parliament, with the SNP poised to return to government and John Swinney emerging as the most popular political leader.
Fulton MacGregor MSP responded by saying the results confirm what many already suspected – Labour support is crumbling under Sarwar’s leadership.
He pointed to Labour’s Westminster record, citing their decision to slash the Winter Fuel Payment, adopt the two-child benefit cap, raise National Insurance, and fail to support WASPI women.
With soaring energy prices and broken pledges, MacGregor claims voters are now questioning why Labour’s approach would be any different in Scotland.
He also criticised Labour’s stance in Holyrood, where they refused to support a budget that promised record funding for the NHS and a reversal of the Winter Fuel Payment cuts.
Poll after poll now suggests Labour is heading for its worst-ever Scottish Parliament result, sparking serious doubts about Anas Sarwar’s leadership.
MacGregor argued that while Sarwar prioritises party politics, the SNP is focused on putting Scotland’s interests first.
With the 2026 election approaching, the SNP is preparing to set out its vision for Scotland’s future, as the party looks to reclaim its position at the heart of government.
