LiveWire Begins Production of New Electric Mini Motorcycles

LiveWire has announced the start of production of its new S4 Honcho electric mini motorcycle range, marking a significant step in the company’s plans to expand electric motorcycling to a wider audience.

The new S4 Honcho Trail and S4 Honcho Street models are now entering production, with the first motorcycles expected to arrive at dealerships later this summer.

Originally unveiled as concept models at Harley Davidson Homecoming in Milwaukee and the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan, the S4 Honcho platform has been designed to offer a lightweight and accessible entry point into electric riding.

LiveWire says the new range targets commuters, new riders, outdoor enthusiasts and those looking for a practical and affordable way to travel.

The motorcycles are classed as 125cc equivalent machines and qualify for A1 licence holders across the UK and Europe.

Both models feature electric power, compact dimensions and removable battery technology aimed at making ownership simpler and more flexible.

LiveWire Chief Executive Karim Donnez said:

“S4 Honcho is about opening up electric riding to a much broader audience.

“It’s lightweight, approachable, and built to be used, whether you’re new to riding or just looking for something more fun and flexible day to day.”

The motorcycles weigh around 250 pounds including their batteries and are capable of reaching speeds of up to 59 mph.

LiveWire claims the S4 Honcho can accelerate from 0 to 30 mph in approximately three seconds, providing quick urban performance while remaining easy to ride.

A key feature of the platform is its dual removable battery system.

The combined battery capacity of 3.48 kWh can deliver up to 53 miles of range under WMTC testing, or up to 73 miles when travelling at a constant 20 mph.

The batteries can be removed and charged away from the motorcycle, which may prove particularly attractive to riders living in flats or properties without dedicated charging facilities.

Charging from 20 per cent to 80 per cent takes around two hours using a standard 110 volt supply.

The Trail and Street models share the same basic platform but feature different styling and riding positions.

The Trail version has a seat height of 32 inches while the Street model sits slightly lower at 31 inches.

LiveWire says a growing range of accessories will also allow owners to personalise their motorcycles to suit different lifestyles and uses.

Production is being carried out by Taiwanese manufacturer KYMCO, with the company also benefiting from Harley Davidson’s global dealer network.

The partnership is intended to help LiveWire scale production while expanding its presence in international markets.

The S4 Honcho Trail will be priced from £4,599, while the S4 Honcho Street will start from £4,999.

As electric motorcycles continue to evolve, LiveWire believes the S4 Honcho range could help attract a new generation of riders looking for affordable, practical and environmentally conscious transport.
