Moray Council Invites Community Voices to Shape Milne’s School Future

Moray Council has launched a fresh wave of community engagement to shape the future of schools in the Milne’s Associated Schools Group (ASG).

This initiative focuses on assessing the use, condition, and suitability of local schools to ensure they remain modern, accessible, and fit for future generations.

By tailoring the approach to the specific needs of each community, the council aims to reflect local priorities in its plans.

Communities in Forres, Buckie, Elgin, Keith, and Speyside have already participated in similar sessions, with Milne’s next in line.

Lossiemouth is scheduled for engagement activities in March, continuing the council’s phased approach.

Residents of the Milne’s ASG area are encouraged to contribute their views through an online survey, open until 3 March 2025.

To complement the survey, two community drop-in sessions will be held at Fochabers Library.

The first session is on Thursday 13 February from 2pm to 5pm.

The second session is on Tuesday 18 February from 5pm to 8pm.

These sessions offer an opportunity to meet with the Moray Council Learning Estate team.

Attendees can ask questions, share ideas, and learn more about the future plans for Milne’s schools.

Cllr Kathleen Robertson, Chair of Moray Council’s Education, Children’s and Leisure Services Committee, highlighted the importance of community involvement.

“Ensuring our schools provide the best learning environment is a shared responsibility,” she said.

“Community feedback is essential in shaping decisions that reflect local values and priorities.”

She emphasised that the insights gathered will guide key decisions about Milne’s ASG schools.

Residents can find more information and access the online survey via the Milne’s ASG webpage.
