The rainbow flag will fly above Moray Council’s HQ building in Elgin for Pride month throughout June.

The month is dedicated to celebrating LGBTQ+ communities around the world and coincides with the commemoration of the Stonewall Riots of 1969.

Pride is a celebration of people coming together in love and friendship to show how far LGBTQ+ rights have come and to remember how damaging homophobia was and still can be.

The month is about acceptance, equality, raising awareness and education in LGBTQ+ history.

Moray Council’s Convener, Cllr Marc Macrae raised the flag above HQ, saying:

“I am delighted that alongside Moray Council HQ our secondary schools will be flying the Pride flag to celebrate LGBTQ+ Pride month.

“Pride month is a time for everyone to be proud of who they are and the unique individual offerings they have to bring to the world.

“Not just here in Scotland but across the world we join together in solidarity to embrace diversity and to promote inclusivity.”
