Emma Roddick MSP has secured a critical commitment from the Scottish Government to progress transformative infrastructure developments crucial to the Highlands’ economic future.
The proposed dualling of the A96 between Inverness and Aberdeen, including the much-anticipated Nairn Bypass, represents a significant milestone for regional development and connectivity.
After submitting a strategic Government Initiated Question, Ms Roddick received confirmation of the government’s determination to deliver these vital infrastructure projects, emphasising the critical need for transparent planning and community engagement.
“These infrastructure investments are more than just road improvements,” Ms Roddick stated.
“They represent a fundamental commitment to enhancing economic opportunities, improving road safety, and supporting community development across the Highlands.”
The proposed developments promise substantial benefits for local residents and businesses, addressing long-standing infrastructure challenges that have historically hindered regional growth and mobility.
Specifically, the Nairn Bypass has been highlighted as a priority project, with potential to significantly reduce traffic congestion and improve transportation efficiency for the town and surrounding areas.
Ms Roddick has been adamant about the importance of clear timelines and detailed plans, recognising that local communities deserve transparency and comprehensive information about these transformative projects.
“Residents and businesses have been waiting considerable time for these infrastructure improvements,” she explained.
“Our commitment now is to ensure not just progress, but meaningful, community-focused development.”
The infrastructure upgrade represents a strategic investment in the Highlands’ economic potential, promising to enhance connectivity, support business growth, and improve overall quality of life for regional inhabitants.
Key priorities include engaging directly with local communities, incorporating feedback, and ensuring that the infrastructure developments reflect the genuine needs and aspirations of Highland residents.
Ms Roddick remains committed to pressing the Scottish Government for urgency and transparency, emphasising that these projects are crucial for the region’s long-term prosperity and development.
“The people of the Highlands deserve world-class infrastructure that supports our unique landscape, communities, and economic ambitions,” she concluded, signalling a robust commitment to driving these critical developments forward.
