New Shopper Bus Service Set To Hit The Road

A brand-new bus service is being launched to make it easier for residents in and around Inverness to access two of the city’s busiest retail parks.

Dubbed the “108 Shopper Bus,” the service will begin operating every Tuesday and Thursday from Torvean Park and Ride, starting 4 February.

Bus Route 1

The route will take in several residential areas along Sir Walter Scott Drive, including Holm Dell, Culduthel Mains, Slackbuie, Miller Street, and Boswell Road, before stopping at Inshes Retail Park and continuing through UHI Campus to Inverness Shopping Park.

Bus Route 2

The new service was introduced in response to calls from locals who struggle to access existing bus stops due to their distance from residential areas.

Speaking about the development, Councillor Ken Gowans, Chair of the Economy and Infrastructure Committee, said:

“This is a great example of us listening to what the community wants and delivering a solution that makes life easier for people.”

He added:

“The new service is specifically designed for shoppers who currently face challenges getting to these popular retail parks without first travelling into the city centre.”

The 108 Shopper Bus is expected to attract passengers who will benefit from its convenience and direct route, avoiding the need for lengthy detours or additional journeys.

Timetable information for the service will soon be available on the Highland Council Buses website and Facebook page.

This practical solution from The Highland Council’s in-house bus team aims to improve accessibility and provide a welcome boost for local residents and shoppers alike.
