Overnight A9 Traffic Lights Planned Throughout July Near Ballinluig

Drivers travelling on the A9 in Perthshire are being warned to expect overnight delays throughout July as work continues on the Tay Crossing to Ballinluig dualling project.

Temporary traffic signals are being introduced near Kindallachan and Rotmell Farm to allow essential utility diversion works to take place safely as part of the wider A9 Dualling programme.

The overnight measures began on Sunday 5 July and will continue at various points during the month, with work taking place between 7pm and 6am.

The traffic management affects the northbound carriageway and is intended to protect both road users and workers carrying out the improvements.

At Rotmell Farm, temporary traffic signals will be in place from Sunday 5 July until Tuesday 7 July, from Sunday 19 July until Thursday 23 July, and again from Monday 27 July until Tuesday 28 July.

At Kindallachan, overnight traffic management is scheduled from Wednesday 8 July until Friday 10 July, from Sunday 12 July until Friday 17 July, and on Sunday 26 July.

The A9 remains one of the Highlands’ most important transport links, connecting communities, businesses and visitors travelling between Inverness, Perth and beyond.

While the overnight timing has been chosen to reduce disruption as much as possible, motorists are being advised to leave extra time for journeys and expect some delays during the works.

Road users are also being encouraged to check live travel information before setting off, particularly those making longer journeys through Perthshire and into the Highlands.

The utility diversion works form part of the wider programme to dual the A9 between Perth and Inverness, a project long regarded as one of Scotland’s most significant transport upgrades.

Traffic Scotland will provide live updates throughout the month as the works progress.

Officials have apologised for any inconvenience caused and say the overnight schedule has been designed to minimise the impact on daytime traffic.
