Drivers using the A9 near Tomatin should expect a short overnight lane closure on 5 June as work continues on major upgrades to the route.
The closure will take place just north of the Slochd summit, roughly 5km south of the main Tomatin to Moy project area, and will affect one northbound lane only.
Work is scheduled to begin at 7.30pm and will finish by 6am the following morning.
Crews will be carrying out site clearance and junction improvements at the U2856 turnoff as part of the wider upgrade of the Tomatin South Junction, along with early construction work on a new Clune bus turning circle.
One northbound lane will remain open throughout the works, so traffic can still pass in that direction, while southbound travel will be unaffected.
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation for access to the U2856 for the duration of the overnight works, and everyone is being urged to approach the area with care and allow a bit of extra time for their journeys.
Pedestrians, cyclists and other non-motorised users will still be able to pass through safely, and emergency services access will remain fully open.
This is a key step in a long-awaited and vital section of the A9 dualling project between Tomatin and Moy, and although the closure is brief, it marks real progress in delivering safer and more modern infrastructure for the Highlands.
As always, plans may shift depending on weather, so those heading north should check the Traffic Scotland website before travelling.
