Police Appeal for Witnesses Following A9 Crash at Pitlochry

Police are appealing for witnesses following a collision involving two cars on the A9 at Pitlochry which resulted in a young woman being taken to hospital.

The crash happened at around 5.40pm on Thursday 8 October at the Fonab Castle and Foss Road junction, involving a blue Kia Picanto and a grey Skoda Kamiq.

Emergency services attended the scene, with the 23 year old woman driving the Kia taken to hospital for treatment.

A 55 year old man who was driving the Skoda and his 18 year old female passenger were assessed at the scene by Scottish Ambulance Service personnel.

Police have not confirmed the extent of the woman’s injuries or provided further details about her condition.

The A9 was closed to allow road policing officers to carry out a collision investigation, with enquiries continuing into the circumstances of the incident.

Officers are now asking anyone who was travelling through the area around the time of the collision to come forward, particularly motorists who may have recorded useful footage.

Constable Campbell Hutt said:

“I am appealing to anyone who was in the area who may have witnessed the incident to contact us.

“I would also ask people with dash-cam and doorbell recording equipment to check their footage for any images which could assist our enquiries.”

The A9 is one of Scotland’s busiest routes, providing a vital connection between the Highlands and central Scotland, with the Pitlochry stretch regularly used by local residents, commuters and visitors.

Police are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam or doorbell footage which could help establish what happened.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2480 of Thursday 8 October 2026.
